Structured and unstructured homeschooling: a proposal for broadening the taxonomy
Neuman A, Guterman O · 2016
grade Dreviewindependentnot-applicable
Sample
30 home-educating mothers interviewed
Population
Israeli home-educating families
Design
Qualitative interview study. No outcome data of any kind; the contribution is conceptual — separating structure of CONTENT from structure of PROCESS.
Key findings
The structured/unstructured binary that the quantitative literature relies on (and that Martin-Chang 2011 found to matter more than home-schooling itself) conflates two independent dimensions, so studies coding families into two bins are measuring an ill-defined exposure.
